Publishing Ethics

Human Subject Research and Informed Consent

All authors submitting studies involving human subjects must adhere to the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) guidelines on privacy and informed consent.

  • Identifiable information, such as written descriptions, photographs, or pedigrees, should only be published if essential for scientific purposes and with the explicit written informed consent of the patient (or their parent/guardian).
  • Informed consent requires that the patient reviews the manuscript prior to publication.
  • If the subject is deceased, authors must obtain written consent from the family or estate before including identifiable information.

Ethical Approval for Clinical Trials and Animal Studies

  • All clinical trials and animal studies must receive approval from a recognized ethics committee before research begins.
  • Authors are encouraged to register clinical trials in publicly accessible trial registries, such as clinicaltrials.gov.
  • The trial registration number should be included in the manuscript, with full methodological details provided in the methods section.

Dunya Journal of Medical Sciences (DJMS) is committed to upholding the highest standards of research ethics, patient privacy, and scientific integrity in all published studies.
